Social Skill Sessions

As an intern at the Deaf Wellness Center, I work with patients who are deaf or hard of hearing and also have mental illnesses, including intellectual disabilities, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. My role involves leading social skills training sessions, where I teach essential interaction skills such as patience in conversations, turn-taking, maintaining eye contact, and understanding social boundaries. These skills are taught through a variety of activities, including games, role-playing, drawing, and video materials, all designed to help patients apply these concepts in their daily lives and improve their social interactions.
